Rounds 3&4 - Brands Hatch, 12-June-1999

Carnage. Absolute carnage. James Mead, Charlie Blackmore (twice), Paul Little, Pete Fishwick, Charlie Entwhistle, and Simon Tomlinson at some point paid visits to the gravel or tyres.
Round three was essentially a Paul Hogan benefit, but full marks to Martin Ratcliffe for keeping him honest. Charlie Blackmore exited stage left at Dingle Dell (in keeping with tradition).
If round three was bad, round four was even worse. There was a little bit of moisture on the track at Druids and Paddock, and it was all the excuse Si Tomlinson needed to crash spectacularly, taking Charlie Entwhistle out. Meanwhile Pete Fishwick took a dive over his handlebars at Druids, nearly skittling everyone who had survived Simons dismount. Red flag after three corners. This would have resulted in some bonus points being awarded were it not for the record being three race stoppages at the first corner at Pembrey in 1996. The restart showed that Paul Hogan is, in fact, human after all, as he failed to win. That honour went to Charlie Blackmore, who narrowly pipped a hard charging Paul Ling.

Rounds 5&6 - Brands Hatch, 13-June-1999

Round five was business as usual, as Paul Hogan took the points once again, chased all the way by Martin Ratcliffe. Charlie Blackmore took third, closely pursued by a small squadron of LCs and our own Wing Commander Paul Ling. Charlie Entwhistle bounced back from his dismount yesterday to score a very creditable fifth with a misbehaving bike from Nick Wiles, with some old tosser called Ronketti back in seventh. Paul Little rounded things up, but at least everybody stayed the right way up.
Round six was a rather quiet affair really (or it was from as far back as I was) with the by familiar sight of Paul Hogan taking the honours with Martin Ratcliffe in close attendance. Charlie Blackmore and Paul Ling took the next places after a race long scrap, with me following them up in 5th. Clive equalled his seasons best of 6th.

Quotes...

"When I saw Charlie in front I backed off, as I knew I had third place in the bag. Only the sod didn't fall off at Dingle Dell". - Martin Ratcliffe deriding Charlie Blackmores inconsistency for failing to crash for the third time at Dingle Dell.
"I think everyone saw you at the front and fell off in shock" - Last years TZR runner up and owner of some bizarrely long toes, Phil "Mr. Ben" Rollason to yours truly after round 4 was stopped.

Stickers

If you've not got any BKVP sport stickers on your bike, you should have! Bob is doing us all a favour by videoing the series, and would like us to carry stickers for him. Get in touch with me if you need any, and I'll send them on.

Spot the difference...

This competition is being run for the benefit of non-tour rider Melvin Eke, who seems to be picking up a bit of a reputation this season.

Casualty Department

James Mead broke an arm in the first race of the day on Saturday in a heavy fall at Dingle Dell. Get well soon mate.
Simon Tomlinson also beat himself up a bit in a high speed fall at Paddock in round 4. At least he had the good sense to make sure it was in a place likely to be caught on video.
Charlie Entwhistle was given the choice of running over Simon or throwing the bike away - Luckily for Simon he chose the latter option, but didn't do himself or his bike any favours in the process. I think Simon owes you a pint...
Pete Fishwick took an impressive dive over the bars at Druids, also in round 4, scoring 5.9 from the Belgian judge, but nil points in the tour...
Paul Little was LC'd in the first race of the day on Saturday, but walked away with nothing more than a few kilos of gravel in various places we'd best not go in to.
If I've forgotten anyone, sorry. It was hard to keep up.
