* - Denotes rider played joker in this round
Rounds 11&12 - Cadwell Park, 7-August-1999
Well, it's been on the cards for some time now, but Martin notched up his maiden race win, closely followed by race win #2 on the Saturday, as he showed everyone else the way round. The usual suspects of Charlie and Paul filled out the top 3 in both cases, and some good solid rides from Simon showed that he's picking up the pace again after a spate of recent injuries. Mention must be made of Roger Ford picking up a trophy in the wet round 12 on a TDR250, complete with indicators, luggage rack and bungee cords. Top effort.
Rounds 13&14 - Cadwell Park, 8-August-1999
No repeat performance for Martin this time, as he outbraked himself at the hairpin in round 13, handing the points to Charlie and Paul again. Nick Wiles had a flyer in this race, and notched up a third place, closely pursued by Simon. Steve also paid a visit to the marshals after an altercation with an LC left him on the grass at the Gooseneck.
Honourary Membership
This weeks honourary membership goes to Roger Ford for campaigning Jans
TDR250, and "enjoying my racing more than I have done in a long time".
Latest news is that Roger is fed up with the slothful performance, lack
of grip and handling gremlins of his '98 TZ250 so is looking for a TZR
to race.
He would have been awarded points for some solid rides all weekend, but
seeing as he beat me I'm not giving them.
Technical Infringements
Right. I'm getting fed up with various peoples bikes being protested,
stripped, found to be legal, protested again, etc. etc.
This is not doing anyone any favours. It costs money, wastes time, and
leads to ill feeling. If anyone has any suspicions about anyones bikes,
let me know in confidence. I'll pass all the information on to the
series organisers who can do with it what they want. If anyone wants to
make a formal protest, do it at the next round, pay your money, and
accept the verdict.
And let that be an end to it.
TZR Tour T-Shirts
I'm thinking about getting a run of these done and selling them at cost price. If anyone is interested, please kick Paul Ling up the arse, 'cos I'm waiting for him to design them.
Casualty Department
First into the ambulance this time was our own Charlie Entwhistle after an horrific startline collision with Pat Herron and Simon Owen. Fortunately all concerned were broadly OK, but Simons and Charlies bikes both look the worse for wear. Simons, in particular will probably never play the violin again.
Other than that, a remarkably crash-free weekend for the TZRs. Martin uncharacteristically paid a visit to the marshals on Sunday, as did Steve. Neither rider was hurt, and both made it out for later races that day.
Nigel Hewitt also gets the dubious award of officially ending the year on zero points. Following his early season crash at Lydden he's been persuaded that enough is enough, and it's time for a rest.
